Dredging / Reclamation
Dredging or excavation operations commonly carried out partly underwater, in shallow seas or fresh water areas with the purpose of gathering up bottom sediments and disposing of them. This technique is often used to keep waterways navigable.
There are multiple environmental considerations when dredging as it creates spoils (excess material) and disturbance in aquatic ecosystems, with potential adverse impacts.
