Job Summary

Our client, a robustly capitalized real estate private equity firm, has teamed up with Macdonald and Company to seek out a new Director of Capital Markets. This role, based in the Los Angeles office, will directly report to the Chief Investment Officer. The appointed Director will play a key role in guiding the team through all financing and joint venture structuring activities, which include sourcing debt and equity capital for the firm's various funds and separate accounts.

The Opportunity:
As the Director of Capital Markets, you will spearhead the capital-raising process from inception to completion. Additionally, you will drive financial analysis, strategic decision-making, and technical proficiency within the Capital Markets department. This position entails establishing new relationships and nurturing existing ones with investors, as well as securing and structuring debt financing for acquisitions and refinancing efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Prospect for new lender relationships within the market.
  • Manage and cultivate existing lender relationships.
  • Formulate and execute debt strategies for industrial, multifamily, and retail platforms in coordination with the acquisition team.
  • Lead the origination and structuring of corporate and property level debt and equity financing.
  • Managed the review and negotiation of property level equity letters of intent and joint venture documents.
  • Coordinate all due diligence activities and assist in loan closing preparation and post-closing matters.
  • Oversee the drafting of offering memorandums and other marketing materials.
  • Assist in the creation of various presentations including committee memos and summary correspondence.
  • Construct complex financial models.
  • Stay informed of market trends, investor preferences, and regulatory changes to inform fundraising strategies.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or Real Estate preferred
  • 8-10+ years of commercial real estate, brokerage/IB or commercial banking experience
  • Direct experience in the negotiation of credit agreement and equity agreement documentation
  • In-depth understanding of overall due diligence process, underwriting and valuation models, and real estate finance and debt structure
  • Proven performance working with high-net-worth investors and their advisors via deep investor relationships
  • Established network in Arizona and the sunbelt region required
  • Strong communication skills
