With their roots firmly in construction, this now diverse group has successfully delivered commercial projects since the mid 2000s.The development company acts independently, but is able to leverage considerable group resources in terms of construction and project management. By nature, teams are small, as specialist skills are outsourced to professionals in planning, design, costing and engineering. However, the developers project manager still needs to pull all this information together, and be the person responsible for anticipating issues or bottlenecks in order to mitigate their effects or unblock them. They are therefore looking for someone who has the ability to act as an oversight on projects from all possible angles, and who is able to achieve progress through ongoing relationship management. This will require lots of travel to Durban, which is where you first project will be, and where you will spend much of your time on site. Effectively you will be the assistant to a senior Development Manager, who is tasked with sourcing and packaging deals. Where you will come in is during the delivery phase at first, but you must have the aptitude to get involved in pre-contract works as your skills progress. To be successful in this role you will need a sound knowledge and proven ability to implement JBCC contracts and work with MS Projects. A minimum 5 years work experience as a consulting Project Management would be ideal. Our client can also consider a QS who has acted as principal agent on at least 7 projects, as long as the projects you have administered have all been JBCC.
