Zurika Bleeker manages this role
Private property developer / landlord seeks highly driven legal advisor.
Our client has built up a portfolio under management of over R3Billion in urban properties, with a view to improving the housing conditions and living experiences of city dwellers. Bringing together expertise in development, funding and property management, they have quickly become synonymous with quality urban property offerings.
Keeping all development, property and asset management in-house, they are looking to appoint a legal advisor to provide input in all these areas. A good negotiator and lateral thinker is needed to manage the administration behind the leasing process, to agree SLA's with suppliers and escalate eviction cases to external council. On the Asset Managment side of the business, you will be expected to sit in on meetings with various stakeholders in order to draft complex JV, disposal or acquisition agreements, negotiate the finer points commercial leases and work with the financial manager to mitigate tax risks. All loan agreements with banks will also fall to you to review and comment.
Someone who keeps their finger on the pulse of the real estate market is essential, as much of your role will see you working with the Company Secretary to ensure compliance to legislation in a way which also maximises returns to shareholders.
As the only legal person in this team, there is significant potential for you to grow this role into an executive one; particularly given the groups already rapid expansion. However, it also means that there is 'nowhere to hide', and that you will need to be a problem solver who takes real initiative.
A minimum of 5 years experience within real estate investment - either as external council or in-house - is necessary for you to hit the ground running.
