Restaurant procurement specialist sought for roll out throughout Africa.

With a presence in 23 African countries, our client is a multi-faceted retail business, looking to expand their restaurant footprint. As such, they are looking to appoint a Procurement Manager whose responsibilities will seek to optimise economies of scale within their 'food division'. You could be based in either Cape Town or Nairobi and will be tasked with managing supplier relationships, development procurement strategies, negotiation, maximising value from existing and new contracts & consistently reviewing and assessing the supplier market to optimise procurement opportunities.

This would suit an analytically minded individual who is able Work with joint venture supply chain teams to conduct / supply market analysis in order to understand trends in cost drivers, supplier market structure and optimisation. Although some of the supplier selection and management will fall directly to you, often your function will be in support of partners who have specific criteria which you will need to assist in managing, by developing tender documentations and reviewing bids. Tight internal controls will see you complying with sourcing strategies but flagging any anomalous or payment concerns. Contract management, business partnering and supplier management will fall to you to ensure strong relationships, impeccable financial controls and identification of possible issues. 

Someone with a minimum of 5 years' procurement experience, at least 2 of which should be in the food / restaurant space would be best fitted to this demanding environment.  Essential competencies are laid out below:-
  • Fully versed in requisition to pay practices.
  • Strong understanding of the QSR industry and QSR supply chain practises
  • Demonstrates in depth understanding of purchasing policies, negotiations and procurement procedures
  • Proven ability to integrate operational CP processes in complex situations, and to bring change into working practices
  • Ability to make decisions and execute with support of stakeholders
  • Ability to influence peers and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of execution excellence and delivering results
  • Well organized and able to manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
  • Good communications and inter-personal skills
  • Strong project management/leadership skills
  • Very good commercial sense
  • Purchase order processing knowledge
  • Financial awareness.
