Building Energy Performance Expert (5+ Years Experience)

Our client are leading the way in creating sustainable buildings in Ireland. Their team boasts over 20 years of experience in commercial development. They take a holistic approach to sustainability, helping clients achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions while improving building performance. They work closely with clients to understand their needs and develop practical, sustainable, and cost-effective strategies to address current climate challenges and the environmental impact of the built environment.

The Role

In this exciting role, you'll play a key role in supporting and developing several key areas:

  • Energy Auditing
  • Building Energy Modeling (IES or equivalent software)
  • Part L / NZEB Compliance (including modeling in IES and SBEM NCM)
  • Design for Performance (predictive energy modeling and operational assessments)
  • Non-Domestic Building Energy Ratings (BERs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
You'll be a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a sustainability champion! You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to achieve energy and sustainability goals for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct building assessments for energy and carbon reduction projects, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop customized energy efficiency strategies and property improvement plans for each client.
  • Analyze and model energy consumption data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of integrating renewable energy sources (e.g., solar PV) into client properties.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on energy consumption, savings achieved, and progress toward sustainability targets.
  • Collaborate with certification bodies to obtain energy and sustainability certifications for properties.
  • Complete Energy Efficient Design reports and perform tasks like monitoring, predictive energy modeling, and operational energy assessments.
We're looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor's Degree (Level 8) in Engineering or a similar qualification.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in energy engineering, energy management, or a similar role, preferably in commercial buildings.
  • (Desirable) SI 426 Registered Energy Building Energy Assessor certification.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software (IES or equivalent), data analysis tools, and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with Part L / NZEB compliance and modeling in IES and SBEM NCM.
  • (Desirable) Familiarity with BREEAM In-Use, HPI, and BER assessments.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and manage projects effectively.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with a positive attitude.
  • A strong commitment to learning and professional development.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
