Job Summary
Can you keep multiple concrete structures moving at once, without compromising programme quality or safety?An established Johannesburg construction group is expanding its specialist projects division and is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the delivery of turnkey concrete structures across Gauteng. With several projects currently under way and several more approaching commencement, this is a newly created position within a busy and growing division. Reporting directly to the Contracts Director, you will take responsibility for multiple sites simultaneously, depending on their size and complexity.
This is a practical, site-driven role. You will coordinate construction programmes, formwork, concrete works, setting out, subcontractors, labour and material requirements to keep each project moving safely and according to programme. Foremen, junior foremen, subcontractors and general labour will look to you for leadership and direction on site.
The successful candidate will have between five and ten years’ relevant construction experience, backed by strong practical knowledge of formwork and concrete structures. Structural building experience would be ideal, although candidates from a civil construction background will be considered where they have delivered substantial concrete and formwork packages.
You should be comfortable moving between sites, managing through foremen and maintaining control of several programmes at once. Strong subcontractor and labour management skills are essential, together with the ability to communicate confidently with clients and professional teams. All projects are situated around Johannesburg, and you will require your own reliable vehicle. Afrikaans communication skills would be advantageous.
