Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Deputy/Team Leader to join a London-based Local Authority on an interim basis. This is a senior Development Management position working across area teams, supporting the Team Manager and playing a key role in the delivery of a high-quality planning service. The role would suit an experienced Principal Planner, Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader who is confident managing complex applications and supporting a wider Development Management function.Key responsibilities
- Managing a varied planning application caseload, including delegated decisions, recommendations and Planning Committee reports.
- Leading pre-application discussions across a range of development proposals.
- Handling appeals and providing high-quality planning advice to applicants and stakeholders.
- Supporting the management of the wider Development Management team and deputising for the Team Manager when required.
- Clearing and presenting reports at Planning Committee.
- Contributing to service improvements and wider change initiatives.
- Supporting and mentoring Planning Officers, encouraging professional development and maintaining high standards across the service.
