Job Summary
A leading Data Centre developer, owner-operator is seeking an experienced Design & Construction Manager with a strong background in Data Centre and Modular Data Centre design solutions.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in this field, possess a deep understanding of data centre design, and hold relevant certifications in this field. This role requires a candidate with a solid foundation in construction management, project coordination, and technical expertise in data centre infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and construction of data centre and modular data centre projects from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and IT specialists, to develop and implement innovative design solutions.
- Ensure all projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
- Oversee budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for data centre construction projects.
- Conduct site evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to determine project viability.
- Review and approve design plans, technical specifications, and construction documents.
- Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Monitor construction progress, quality control, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or delays that arise during the construction process.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management.
- Assist in pre-sales activities, including providing technical expertise and support to the sales team.
- Participate in customer meetings and workshops to discuss and design data centre and modular data centre solutions.
To be an ideal fit for this position, the successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in data centre design and construction, with a focus on modular data centre solutions.
Other requirements include but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Professional certifications related to data centre design (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI, LEED) are highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, network, and security systems.
- Proficiency in project management software and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data centre construction (e.g., TIA-942, ISO 27001).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Other experience while not a must, it would be of great benefit to have:
- Experience with green building practices and sustainable design.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid data centre environments.
- Understanding of modular construction techniques and prefabrication.
- Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and trends in data centre design and construction.
