Job Summary

We are delighted to be supporting our long-term client with the hiring of a Health & Safety Manager for the business. Our client is a dynamic Developer who specialises in high quality residential new build projects in Central London. The schemes are modern in design and incorporate the latest technology and first class amenity spaces such as on-site gyms and spa areas, roof terrace gardens and relaxation spaces along with co-working areas for residents.
Due to continued growth they are now looking to establish an in-house dedicated Health & Safety Manager to join the team. This role will provide visible Health and Safety leadership and direction to the team across all construction projects. The role will implement project decisions, assure best project practices by providing health and safety guidance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake an initial scoping exercise, reviewing and consolidating existing inhouse information. 
  • Produce a comprehensive suite of H&S SOP and handbook for the company, implement and monitor on an ongoing basis. 
  • Act as H&S advisor to keep the team abreast of new developments, and apply professional standards to ensure best practice. 
  • Maintain core areas of expertise and impart knowledge to aid the development, training and mentoring of others. 
  • Provide H&S advice to all staff to assist them in achieving project objectives. 
  • Advise on and interpret project contractual and statutory requirements and obligations to protect the project’s integrity and ensure legal compliance. 
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with customers, partners and suppliers to assist the achievement of project targets. 
Desired Skills
  • Proven experience of working in a similar role in Health & Safety for a main contractor or developer
  • Past experience of working on large construction projects 
  • Good knowledge of construction techniques and their implications for safety 
  • NEBOSH accreditation 
  • Experience in residential development would be preferred, however similar industry experience will be considered 
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of construction Health and Safety 
  • Good knowledge of behavioral safety techniques 
  • Good knowledge of occupational health 
  • Experience leading a team
