The Opportunity
Macdonald & Company is partnered with a rapidly growing, highly capitalized regulated lender that is expanding its Commercial Real Estate platform across the US.
The firm is now looking to establish its presence in Dallas and is seeking an experienced CRE debt originator to help build the market.
The platform combines the stability and liquidity of a regulated bank with the speed, flexibility and entrepreneurial approach of private credit. This is an opportunity to originate across a broad range of transactions while playing a key role in growing the firm's presence in Texas.
The Role
The Director will focus on sourcing, structuring and closing new CRE loans across Texas and the wider US.
This is a true origination role. Dedicated underwriting, credit, legal, execution and portfolio management teams support the originators, allowing them to spend the majority of their time developing relationships, sourcing opportunities and closing deals.
Responsibilities
- Originate new CRE lending opportunities through developers, investors, owners, brokers and intermediaries
- Build and develop relationships across Dallas and the wider Texas market
- Originate construction, development, bridge, repositioning and transitional loans
- Structure transactions, negotiate terms and present opportunities to credit committee
- Work across a broad range of property types and transaction sizes
- Develop long-term borrower relationships and generate repeat business
- Work alongside internal credit and execution teams to efficiently close transactions
- Play a key role in establishing the Dallas presence, with the opportunity to help build and lead a team as the platform grows
- 7+ years of Commercial Real Estate lending experience
- Proven track record of personally originating and closing CRE debt transactions
- Strong grounding in real estate credit and deal structuring
- Experience with construction, bridge or transitional lending
- Established relationships with borrowers, developers, investors and intermediaries
- Background within a bank, private credit fund, debt fund or institutional lender
- Commercial, entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine appetite to originate and close deals
- Ability to confidently structure and present transactions to senior credit decision makers
