Job Summary
Know how to turn retail marketing into footfall, engagement and sales? You’ll be joining an established property investment business with a strong portfolio of high-quality commercial assets and a long-standing presence in the South African real estate market. With a strong focus on customer experience and creating relevant, engaging destinations, the business offers the opportunity to take ownership of the marketing function for a prominent retail centre in the Helderberg region. You’ll work within an experienced property team where marketing is viewed as a commercial driver rather than simply a support function.
As Marketing Manager, you’ll own the centre’s marketing strategy from planning through to execution, developing the annual marketing plan and budget while driving campaigns that strengthen the brand, increase quality footfall, extend dwell time and ultimately support retailer performance. Your remit will span digital and social media, PR and media relations, events and promotions, sponsorships, customer engagement and research, while also overseeing exhibition and promotional income opportunities. Just as importantly, you’ll build strong relationships with tenants and major retailers, support new store openings, identify collaborative marketing opportunities and ensure the centre remains relevant to its customer base. You’ll lead the on-site marketing team, manage external agencies and suppliers, track campaign performance and provide meaningful reporting to senior stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will hold a Degree or Diploma in Marketing or a related discipline and bring at least 5 years’ relevant marketing experience. While broader consumer, lifestyle or destination marketing experience may be considered, proven retail property or shopping centre marketing experience will strongly set you apart. You’ll understand that successful retail marketing goes beyond brand awareness - it’s about understanding shoppers, working closely with tenants, creating commercially relevant campaigns and using marketing activity to influence footfall, engagement and turnover. Strong digital capability, stakeholder management, leadership and budget management skills are essential, alongside the ability to confidently take ownership of a busy, highly visible marketing function.
