Job Summary
Be the driving force behind a strong safety-first culture
Our client is a well-established investment and development group operating within the built environment, known for delivering large-scale projects with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and long-term sustainability. They place significant emphasis on creating safe, well-managed construction sites and fostering a culture where health and safety is embedded into daily operations rather than treated as a tick-box exercise.
This role is for an experienced Safety Officer who will take responsibility for improving, protecting, and sustaining health and safety across construction projects. The position involves ensuring full compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, internal policies, and site-specific safety plans, while actively promoting a safety-centric culture on site. The successful candidate will oversee junior safety officers, manage safety representatives and their documentation, prepare inspection reports using the Mango system, conduct weekly toolbox talks, and support management through accurate reporting and corrective action on incidents and audit findings.
The ideal candidate will have a Grade 12 qualification, a recognised SHERQ-related qualification, and 3–5 years’ relevant construction site experience. Strong computer skills, sound knowledge of safety legislation, and hands-on experience with training, reporting, and compliance are essential. Additional certifications such as First Aid, Fall Protection Planner, Risk Assessor, Incident Investigation, or SAMTRAC/SHEMTEC will be highly advantageous. This role suits a self-starter who is assertive, detail-oriented, confident on site, and comfortable taking ownership of safety standards while engaging constructively with teams at all levels.
