Job Summary

Macdonald & Co. has been exclusively tasked with appointing a Hybrid - Senior Fund Accountant for a leading investment manager and lending platform in Los Angeles, CA.

This dynamic organization already operates across the West and is now seeking a Hybrid - Senior Fund Accountant for the Los Angeles area. The chosen candidate will gain a robust knowledge of real estate fund accounting, as well as aspects of the real estate lending and investing business. Our accounting team is very knowledgeable and will provide both formal and on the job training.

Role:
Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Team to manage daily accounting and treasury tasks
  • Execute the monthly closing process for funds and corporate entities
  • Prepare accounting schedules and financial statements for timely annual audits and investor requirements
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies through account information analysis
  • Prepare journal entries and process transactions using accounting software
  • Support the company’s treasury functions by initiating ACH and wire transfers
  • Mentor and coach Staff Accountants
  • Allocate time approximately as follows:
  • 75% on journal entries, financial statements, and accounting schedules
  • 10% on treasury-related tasks
  • 15% on administrative duties and special projects

Education and/or Experience:
  • Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of accounting related experience. Prior experience with real estate fund accounting is a major advantage, but not required.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Communicates effectively with others both verbally and written.
  • Must have a strong desire to manage a team and move beyond the role as an individual contributor.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to think critically about systems and processes to improve them through ingenuity, hard work and creative thinking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • The role is Hybrid requiring the employee to work from our Los Angeles, 3 days a week.
