Job Summary
In 1538, The Duke of Norfolk wrote to Thomas Cromwell and told him "a man can not have his cake and eat his cake". However, we are now nearly 500 years in the future 2023 and it appears that some people can indeed both have and eat cake, particularly if you're a quantity surveyor in the Midlands. In essence, there are 2 sizes of cost consultancy. A large one, where you're just one part of a big team and supported by a variety of work-streams. Or a small one, where you're responsible for client-facing meetings and their satisfaction, as well as being involved in wider business decisions and having an entrepreneurial edge to things.
Have cake, or eat cake.
However, this is the future. This is the opportunity to join a large and well-established property consultancy, BUT with their Cost Consultancy arm in its infancy. This means you're supported by a variety of work-streams, lots to go at and be busy with, all while being closely involved with client satisfaction and those wider business decisions as the Quantity Surveying teams grows over the coming years. The best of both worlds. Having and eating cake.
So if you see your career moving forward with either a large company and the potential stability and benefits that tends to afford, or a smaller one so you can help grow a team and make a name for yourself, you should get in touch for more information about this unique opportunity. You do need to have some consultancy quantity surveying experience already, but don't necessarily need to be chartered.
