Job Summary

Can you turn complex sustainability data into practical, commercial action?

A leading JSE-listed property fund is expanding its sustainability capability and is looking for a technically strong Sustainability Operations Analyst to join its Cape Town office.

This is not a conventional ESG reporting position. It is a hands-on analytical role combining data, technology, property and sustainability. You will analyse energy, water and social-impact data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities that support investment and operational decisions across a significant property portfolio.

A central focus will be improving how data is collected, analysed and reported. You will develop Python scripts, web scrapers and API integrations to automate repetitive processes while maintaining analytical models, dashboards and reporting tools. Accuracy and data integrity will be critical.

You will contribute to the organisation’s Sustainability Report, Integrated Annual Report and stakeholder presentations. This includes researching international best practice, preparing analytical commentary and working with internal teams and external advisers.

The role also provides exposure to renewable-energy, battery-storage and water-resilience projects. You will help monitor project performance, prepare progress reports and coordinate with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, Finance, Econometrics or another quantitative discipline, together with three to five years’ relevant experience.

You must be comfortable working practically with Python, APIs and advanced Excel and have experience analysing complex datasets and presenting findings clearly. SQL knowledge and exposure to AI-enabled process improvement would be advantageous.

Experience in renewable energy, utilities, engineering, property, quantitative analysis or sustainability would be valuable. More importantly, you should be curious, highly accurate and willing to take ownership.
