Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Team Leader to manage a Building Control Team. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with building regulations, particularly focusing on inspections of Class 3 buildings following recent legislative changes.As the successful candidate, you will be required to hold Class 3 Building Inspector certification and will be responsible for conducting inspections of all Class 3 buildings. You will also lead a team of 6, including one Senior Inspector, ensuring effective workload management, compliance with current legislation, and providing technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Class 3 Building Inspections and support the team with other inspection tasks.
- Oversee and allocate workload within the team, ensuring timely assessments for compliance.
- Ensure inspections are conducted efficiently and coordinate with other departments when necessary.
- Handle statutory notices and legal proceedings under relevant building legislation.
- Serve as the technical lead for the Safety of Sports Grounds Act and the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987.
- Supervise and sign off on trainee inspections and plan vetting.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Membership in a professional body related to Building Control.
- Ability to travel across the borough for site inspections.
- Previous experience in team supervision.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with elected officials, public groups, and external bodies.
- Familiarity with Building Regulations applications for public service and commercial buildings.
- Experience handling dangerous structures and Building Control Enforcement cases.
