Opportunity:
  • Macdonald & Co. is excited to announce its partnership with a leading private real estate asset manager and developer of commercial and residential properties in the search for a 'Vice President of Investor Relations' based in Washington, DC.
 
Role Overview:
  • The Vice President of Investor Relations is pivotal in crafting and executing strategies to secure funds vital for the sustained growth of the company and its subsidiaries. This entails collaborating closely with the management team to attract investments from a diverse range of sources including individual investors, family offices, institutions, and registered investment advisors.
  • Reporting directly to the Principal, the VP of Investor Relations assumes the responsibility of fostering new business relationships and engaging with key stakeholders, internal leadership, company personnel, and investors on a daily basis. Additionally, they take a leading role in strategic planning, evaluating organizational outcomes and mission impact, and spearheading special initiatives geared towards accessing new capital sources.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive multi-year and annual capitalization plans in conjunction with company leadership to identify and quantify equity investments and other funding sources.
  • Conduct thorough research on both public and private funding opportunities.
  • Identify, nurture, and onboard investors across various sectors, coordinating efforts with internal leadership through outreach, presentations, program structuring, funding applications, and progress reporting.
  • Maintain regular communication to establish and nurture investor relationships, leveraging internal leadership to broaden engagement.
  • Evaluate the suitability of potential investors in alignment with company programs and products, in consultation with internal leadership.
  • Craft and present investment proposals that effectively communicate the company’s mission and vision to prospective investors.
  • Collaborate actively with program staff to develop program concepts and funding prospects.
  • Create compelling reports and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
  • Cultivate and manage investor and capital relationships, ensuring ongoing future investments.
  • Oversee special initiatives related to accessing new capital sources, and manage relationships with major funding partners and agencies.
  • Manage all interim and final investor reports, coordinating with other staff as necessary to meet reporting requirements and follow up with funding agencies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive system to track past, current, and prospective funders, including organizational and contact information, investment history, reporting schedules, and communication status.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the company’s programs and initiatives to effectively identify new capital opportunities and represent the company accurately to potential investors.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to design strategic plans, including capitalization projections, growth opportunity analysis, annual work plans, and innovative finance products to match investor interests.
  • Provide support for emerging initiatives and capital formation needs as required.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
 
Your Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in capital raising and fund development, with a proven track record of successfully securing funding from major financial and institutional investors, family offices, and private foundations.
  • Proficiency in crafting technical materials and narratives tailored for specialized audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple complex projects, navigating various project management and monitoring requirements.
  • Strong team orientation with a collaborative approach, showcasing high emotional intelligence and the capacity to lead and coordinate teams autonomously.
  • Proficient in business software, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • Extensive experience working with registered investment advisors, family offices, and financial and institutional investors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in private placements, regulatory compliance, structured funds, real estate underwriting, and a solid understanding of banking and revolving loan funds.
