Macdonald & Company are proudly partnered with a Private Equity Real Estate Investment firm headquartered in Salt Lake City, UT with a track-record in acquiring and developing Affordable Housing, Market-Rate Multifamily, and Student Accommodation projects across multiple states.

The firm are looking to appoint a Finance & Accounting leader to join them in a newly created role as Chief Financial Officer, that will help elevate the company internally and externally. This person will play a key role in their growth strategy to increase their AUM by $1.8B in the next 3 years.

The company has multiple Affordable Housing ground-up projects underway, operating assets across Student and Market-Rate Multifamily, and are being very acquisitive over the next 2 years and beyond.

The Role
As the CFO, you will run the Finance and Accounting Division of the company and are responsible for growing the business by implementing systems and processes that will increase efficiency, productivity and profitability. Experience with LIHTC, including Section 42 compliance is strongly preferred.

Core responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for all accounting and finance functions, including, but not limited to A/R, A/P, payroll, contract monitoring, budgeting, cash flow, investments, P&L / balance sheet, financial systems, and financial planning.
  • Create, develop and maintain financial strategy, procedures and policies around planning and budgeting for the organization with the end goal of protecting the organization’s assets and revenues to achieve financial sustainability and growth.
  • Effectively assess and manage risks and threats (internal/external) while functioning as a strategic partner to the rest of the Executive Team and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee all lender activities to include negotiation and establishment of credit lines and compliance.
  • Manage and optimize the Company’s recurring revenue streams across the different verticals (asset management, lending, insurance, brokerage, property management and construction management).
  • Provide forward looking insight, and function as a strategic business partner, enabler, and problem solver of strategic issues.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and improve the Company’s key performance indicators (KPI’s) related to financial systems, processes, structures, and outcomes.
  • Oversee strategies and activities related to banking, insurance, investment, tax credit partnerships, and other outside professional service relationships.
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s assets, liabilities, and investments.
  • Oversee cash, working capital, investment, and fixed asset management.
