Job Summary
Macdonald & Company are proud to partner with a well-established, family-owned commercial real estate investment and development firm with a diversified, multi-state portfolio primarily across the Southeast, spanning retail, office, and mixed-use assets. Following the recent hire of an in-house General Counsel, the business is continuing to invest in its legal function to support a growing pipeline of acquisitions, developments, and financing activity.Our client is now seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join the team in a high-impact, newly created role. This individual will work directly with the General Counsel and partner closely with teams across development, asset management, and operations, playing a key role in supporting and driving transactional execution across the business.
This is a remote position, but will require occasional travel to the company’s Pinehurst, NC office (typically aligned with transaction activity and closings), with travel and accommodation support provided where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support all phases of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing
- Prepare, review, and manage real estate contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, and amendments
- Coordinate and review due diligence materials, including title commitments, surveys, zoning reports, and environmental documentation
- Liaise with title companies, lenders, and external counsel to resolve issues and facilitate smooth closings
- Prepare and manage closing checklists, documentation, and binders
- Draft lease abstracts, estoppels, and SNDA agreements, and support lease administration across the portfolio
- Maintain organized legal records and contract tracking systems
- Partner with internal teams to provide support on legal documentation, timelines, and processes
- Assist in improving workflows and enhancing efficiency across legal and transactional operations
- 5–10+ years of experience as a commercial real estate paralegal or in a similar role
- Strong experience supporting real estate transactions, including due diligence, title/survey review, and closings
- Exposure to lease documentation, financing processes, and multi-asset portfolios
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with lease management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI) is advantageous
- Paralegal certification preferred
