Job Summary

Macdonald & Company are proud to partner with a well-established, family-owned commercial real estate investment and development firm with a diversified, multi-state portfolio primarily across the Southeast, spanning retail, office, and mixed-use assets. Following the recent hire of an in-house General Counsel, the business is continuing to invest in its legal function to support a growing pipeline of acquisitions, developments, and financing activity.

Our client is now seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join the team in a high-impact, newly created role. This individual will work directly with the General Counsel and partner closely with teams across development, asset management, and operations, playing a key role in supporting and driving transactional execution across the business.

This is a remote position, but will require occasional travel to the company’s Pinehurst, NC office (typically aligned with transaction activity and closings), with travel and accommodation support provided where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support all phases of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing
  • Prepare, review, and manage real estate contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, and amendments
  • Coordinate and review due diligence materials, including title commitments, surveys, zoning reports, and environmental documentation
  • Liaise with title companies, lenders, and external counsel to resolve issues and facilitate smooth closings
  • Prepare and manage closing checklists, documentation, and binders
  • Draft lease abstracts, estoppels, and SNDA agreements, and support lease administration across the portfolio
  • Maintain organized legal records and contract tracking systems
  • Partner with internal teams to provide support on legal documentation, timelines, and processes
  • Assist in improving workflows and enhancing efficiency across legal and transactional operations
Qualifications:
  • 5–10+ years of experience as a commercial real estate paralegal or in a similar role
  • Strong experience supporting real estate transactions, including due diligence, title/survey review, and closings
  • Exposure to lease documentation, financing processes, and multi-asset portfolios
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with lease management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI) is advantageous
  • Paralegal certification preferred
