Job Summary

Major Applications Officer | Oxfordshire | £60+ per Hour Major Applications Officer required for an exciting interim opportunity with a Local Authority in Oxfordshire.

My client is looking for an experienced Planning Officer to join their Major Applications team, managing a varied caseload of complex planning applications across both urban and rural developments.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience working on Development Consent Order (DCO) applications or other nationally significant infrastructure projects. However, planners with a strong background in major applications will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team working on a diverse portfolio of strategic developments, liaising with developers, consultees and internal stakeholders to help deliver high-profile schemes across the authority.

The Role
  • Managing a varied caseload of major planning applications.
  • Assessing proposals across both urban and rural developments.
  • Supporting and advising on Development Consent Order (DCO) applications where applicable.
  • Preparing committee reports and presenting applications where required.
  • Liaising with applicants, agents, consultees and elected Members throughout the planning process.
  • Providing professional planning advice in line with local and national planning policy.
Requirements
  • Previous experience dealing with major planning applications within a Local Planning Authority.
  • Experience with Development Consent Order (DCO) applications is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
  • Excellent report writing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • MRTPI is desirable but not essential.
