Job Summary
What does it take to produce property numbers an Asset Manager can trust without rechecking?A privately owned commercial property group is strengthening its finance team with the appointment of a hands-on Property Accountant.
This is not a trainee role, nor is it a senior strategic position. They need someone who understands the detail behind commercial property accounting and can independently take a portfolio through tenant billing, recoveries, reconciliations and month-end.
The role will take ownership of the accounting records for a portfolio of retail and office properties. This includes tenant billing, municipal and utility recoveries, building-level bookkeeping, deposits, accruals, journals, straight-lining and intercompany reconciliations.
Working closely with the Asset Manager, the successful person will also prepare budget-versus-actual reports and compile NOI, yield, occupancy, vacancy and recovery information used to assess portfolio performance.
They are open to either a qualified Property Accountant or an experienced Property Bookkeeper with strong commercial property exposure. Genuine experience with tenant recoveries, municipal accounts and property month-end is essential. MDA/MRI Property Central experience would be highly advantageous, together with strong Excel skills.
Above all, they want someone dependable, accurate and deadline-driven, someone who investigates discrepancies, clears reconciling items and takes ownership of delivering clean property books every month.
The position is permanent, full-time and based at the company’s Pretoria office.
