Job Summary

An Affordable Housing Group with over 1,500 units in active development and a robust pipeline, are looking for a Development Associate to support the VP of Development - ensuring efficient execution of financial closings, coordinated efforts with third party stakeholders and smooth transitions through the development cycle from inception to conversion. You will likely come from a Project or Design background, looking for an opportunity to step into a 'ground up' development role. The most important qualities are a willingness to learn, be inquisitive, and complete high-quality work in a timely fashion.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate physical due diligence activities, including contract review, budget preparation, and collaboration with consultants.
  • Conduct thorough research to support various development functions, such as acquisitions, due diligence, market analysis, and entitlements.
  • Collaborate on the creation and maintenance of financial models and budgets.
  • Supervise the tracking of timelines and schedules.
  • Organize documentation for RFQ/RFP responses.
  • Assist in the preparation of RFQ/RFP responses and the coordination of community arrangements.
  • Support land acquisition efforts by drafting LOIs and purchase contracts with legal guidance and gathering due diligence materials.
  • Contribute to financial closings in conjunction with lenders, legal advisors, and other project stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field is a fundamental requirement.
  • Proficiency in computer software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, is a must, with a focus on advanced Excel functions being highly emphasized.
  • Exceptional quantitative skills are deemed indispensable.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of practical experience in Real Estate Finance is obligatory.
  • Familiarity with affordable and workforce housing projects is considered a valuable asset.
  • The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to operate autonomously, showcasing reliability and adept organizational skills.
  • They should consistently maintain a professional demeanor, exuding energy and a positive outlook.
  • The role demands outstanding customer service skills as a prerequisite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are deemed essential for effective performance in the position.
