Analyst/Associate – Japanese SpeakingHong Kong
Macdonald & Company have partnered a global investment management and advisory services platform that are looking to add a talented Analyst or Associate to their regional team. The firm are renown for investment management and client service, and they work with a broad institutional client base.
They have an excellent track record of building successful real estate investment strategies with quality investment managers that cover the spectrum of risk profiles, geographic focus and investment structures.
This position will focus on their principal direct real estate investment activity across all real estate asset types globally executed via funds, co-investments, joint ventures, recapitalizations, fund secondaries, and debt-oriented investments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in underwriting real estate co-investment, joint venture, recapitalization, fund secondary, and debt-oriented opportunities, including reviewing due diligence materials and modeling complex cash flows and capital structures
- Assist in preparing investment recommendations on new investment opportunities; these recommendations should be supported by quantitative analysis; recommendations will be made to their Investment Committee and portfolio managers
- Work with transaction leads to asset manage the portfolio investments, ensuring that implementation of business plan at each asset is consistent with approved plans. Provide status updates to internal management and portfolio managers. Identify risks and challenges that can impact investment performance
- Conduct market research including supply and demand dynamics, sales comps, leasing comps and country-specific/macro fundamentals
- Support the high level needs of portfolio managers and clients
Requirements:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the finance and/or real estate investment industry
- Fluent in English and Japanese
- Strong knowledge of real estate, combined with exceptional quantitative, research, analytical and financial modeling skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment that requires daily interaction with the acquisitions, asset management, portfolio management, finance, and accounting teams
- Strong organizational skills required with the ability to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team in a time sensitive environment with established deadlines
- Self-motivated and takes initiative to manage responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal/customer service skills essential with the ability to create/build and maintain relations with internal and external parties
