Job Summary

Our client, a well-known multi-family investment and development firm, are looking to add a Senior Property Accountant to their high-caliber accounting team in Scottsdale. The role offers a very flexible, hybrid work schedule with the ability to work from home 3-4 days per week. 

ABOUT THE FIRM

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly into the Controller, the Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting of assigned multi-family properties under management. Responsibilities also include financial statement preparation and consolidations, bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review budgets, revenues, expenses, PO’s, invoices, and other accounting support to complete month end close for portfolio of properties; research and resolve discrepancies as necessary.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries (accruals, deposits, reclasses, etc.).
  • Perform bank reconciliations, scan checks for deposit, book cash transfers and approve resident refunds.
  • Calculate and book monthly GAAP depreciation and amortization.
  • Analyze revenue and expense trends against the budget to ensure expenditure control and prepare variance explanations.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement analyses monthly.
  • Compile and analyze financial information for lenders and investors monthly, quarterly, annually.
  • Assist property management with annual budget preparation for assigned accounts.
  • Communicate with on-site and other property managers to assist in completing pre-close and close activities, answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time reporting.
  • Complete other financial, accounting, administrative tasks/duties as assigned or as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Business, or related field
  • Multi-family property accounting experience is a must
  • 3-6 years experience ideally
  • Experience with Yardi, RealPage, OneSite, and/or QuickBooks is preferred
  • Self-starter attitude
