The Opportunity:
Macdonald & Co. has been exclusively entrusted with the pivotal task of securing a Vice President of Development for a nationally acclaimed organization—an esteemed leader among vertically-integrated Multifamily investment & development real estate enterprises.

This vibrant entity already boasts a presence in multiple national markets and is now on the lookout for a Vice President of Development to spearhead initiatives in the San Diego area. The chosen individual will play a pivotal role in propelling ongoing projects forward, uncovering fresh avenues for growth, and collaborating closely with the Senior Managing Director to fortify the office's footprint.

As the linchpin of innovation, the VP of Development will predominantly partner with the Senior Managing Director to explore new development prospects, meticulously conduct market analyses, secure prime sites, lead rigorous due diligence processes, steer the design journey, oversee financial strategies, and navigate complex zoning regulations. This multifaceted role also entails meticulous oversight of each phase of the construction process while ensuring seamless coordination of site specifications.


Role:
Functions & Responsibilities
  • Spearheads telecommunications activities, meticulously specifying requirements, negotiating contracts, and facilitating seamless construction coordination.
  • Drives forward new development ventures by conducting thorough market analysis, comprehensive financial assessments, and rigorous initial due diligence.
  • Crafts detailed proformas for new development initiatives, seamlessly integrating market insights, operational expenses, and projected costs.
  • Directs the construction draw process, meticulously generating monthly project reports, and closely monitoring each phase of construction.
  • Conducts thorough on-site visits to oversee framing walks and track general construction progress, meticulously documenting findings.
  • Manages third-party inspections and expedites bond releases for projects nearing completion, ensuring timely project milestones.
  • Upholds strict adherence to project plans and promptly communicates any critical issues to the Managing Director, ensuring project success.
  • Provides invaluable support in product development and design for emerging properties, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Actively participates in Company-sponsored training programs, covering essential topics such as fair housing, safety protocols, diversity, and harassment prevention.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with architects, engineers, landscape designers, interior decorators, property managers, project supervisors, and development counterparts, ensuring alignment of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates unwavering commitment to Company National Standards, while ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirements at the national, state, and local levels.


Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate or other related field is preferred for this position.
  • Minimum of five plus years’ experience in Multifamily real estate, development or finance.
